We Discovered New Mexico’s state parks!! We are now in Leasburg Dam State Park. Best of 2 worlds—out in the quiet desert with cactus and a beautiful mountain view and the other a city only 15 miles away. Many trails.

The sites are big and have water and electric. Also the site has a shelter with a picnic table. Add to that a great campground host. The weather is warm during the day and sunny. The night are cool going down into the 30’s. Nice to have a bed warmed by the dog and the husband.

In addition to the cactus there are quail, roadrunners and rabbits. Fun to watch

We can stay here 3 week then be out 6 days and back again. Not sure if we will do that on this visit.

We decided to buy the annual pass. Its good for one year from the time of purchase and is $225.00. We can camp in any NM state park with the pass for only a $4.00 fee for electric, $8.00 for full hookups or free for dry camping. Since campground fee is an expense we can control this really helps our budget.

Not sure what kind of bird lives in this nest.

Tooo cold to enjoy. So we went right into NM and stopped at the Dancing Eagle Casino. We could camp there for $10.00 a night with electric hook-ups. Mom told me there were great deals on food. 2 for 1 and then a $3.00 coupon off for being a senior. 2 steak dinners for $9.99. Mom says she’s cheap but I think she’s just careful.

I stayed home today while they went to see Sky City which is the oldest inhabited city in the US. It’s part of the Acoma Puelbo . The city is on top of a Mesa. The tour was excellant lead by a Native American from Acoma. The city has about 300 residents. There is no running water, electric, or sewer. They truck in water and use generators. Its an amazing place. Beautiful countryside. Well worth the visit

Our generator has been running rough. Sometimes it doesn’t want to start. Its service time since we really need the generator when we are boondocking.

Dad got a new air filter but then decided to get general maintenance on it since he found a dealer he liked. They change the oil, filter, replaced hoses, glow plugs and a belt. Then they found that the water pump was leaking but they didn’t have any in stock. That’s OK since we have no schedule.

Went back the next day 3/26 and they finished the job and off we went.

They said we are going to see the Meteor Crator. Sounds like fun.

Its been awhile since I’ve written!! I just spent 3 fun weeks at the Verde Valley Thousand trail park. Its a great park – one of my favorites since this is where I met Mom and Dad. I was adopted just about a year ago and brought back to my home on wheels at this park. I had to learn many things – how to walk on a leash and climb the steps.

The park has many places to walk – up the hill with Dad. Very rocky but I can run up and down the sandy areas and get dirty. Mom Dad and I also walk down to the river. There are many dogs to meet and greet.

I had to go for my annual checkup at the vet here in Cottonwood. I was soooo nervous. I had my shots and they took blood for a heartworm test. Everything is fine. Oh yea they even clipped my nails – I hate that and won’t let Mom do it.. I heard Mom say she was going to try to brush my teeth but it hasn’t happened yet.
